Gran Turismo 6's free Ayrton Senna Tribute update honored which racing driver?

Gran Turismo 6’s free Ayrton Senna Tribute update honored the Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna.

The tribute was added through free Update 1.08 in May 2014, created in partnership with the Ayrton Senna Institute and Senna’s family. Its timing was especially significant: 2014 marked 20 years since Senna died in a crash at Italy’s Imola circuit during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Rather than being only a commemorative video, the content followed important stages of Senna’s early and professional career. Players could drive cars associated with him, including a 1978 DAP kart, a 1983 West Surrey Racing Formula Three car and the 1985 Lotus 97T Formula One car. Events also recreated elements of his rise through motorsport.

Senna was a three-time Formula One World Drivers’ Champion, winning titles in 1988, 1990 and 1991 with McLaren. The tribute therefore connects Gran Turismo’s driving simulation with one of Formula One’s most influential and remembered competitors.
