Which two PlayStation consoles received Gran Turismo 7 at release?

The story behind the answer

Gran Turismo 7 was released for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Polyphony Digital designed GT7 as a cross-generation Gran Turismo title rather than a PlayStation 5 exclusive. It launched on March 4, 2022, giving PS4 owners access to the series’ traditional career-focused format while allowing the PS5 version to use newer hardware capabilities.

The two versions share the same core game, including its car collection, license tests, café progression and online features. The PS5 edition benefits from faster loading, higher-fidelity presentation, ray tracing in supported modes, 3D audio and DualSense features such as adaptive triggers and enhanced haptic feedback. The PS4 version targets the older console’s hardware and commonly uses lower visual settings.

A frequent mix-up is confusing GT7 with Gran Turismo Sport, which was also available on PS4, or assuming GT7 was PS5-only because it was revealed during a PlayStation 5 presentation. Sony and Polyphony Digital confirmed that the game would support both consoles.
