Which Gran Turismo game first featured the Nürburgring Nordschleife?
Answer
Gran Turismo 4
Answer
Gran Turismo 4
Gran Turismo 4 was the first Gran Turismo game to feature the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The famous German circuit expanded the series’ track selection with one of motorsport’s longest and most demanding layouts.
The Nordschleife is the historic northern loop of the Nürburgring, a circuit in the Eifel region of Germany. Its full modern tourist configuration is roughly 20.8 kilometres long and contains dozens of corners, blind crests, steep elevation changes, and narrow sections. These characteristics made it a major challenge for both virtual drivers and the game’s developers.
In Gran Turismo 4, the track appeared in races, licence tests, driving missions, and endurance events. A full-lap Nordschleife challenge was also used as a demanding Super Licence test, requiring players to learn the circuit’s rhythm rather than rely only on braking points.
The track later returned in Gran Turismo PSP, Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 6, Gran Turismo Sport, and Gran Turismo 7. Nürburgring layouts can be confusing because the venue includes several configurations, but the long Nordschleife first entered the main series with Gran Turismo 4.
