Which golfer shot a record-low round of 58 on the PGA Tour in 2016?

The story behind the answer

Jim Furyk shot a record-low round of 58 on the PGA Tour in 2016. He achieved the feat during the final round of the Travelers Championship on August 7, 2016, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Furyk finished 12 under par on the par-70 course, making 10 birdies and an eagle. He shot 27 on the front nine and 31 on the back nine, including seven consecutive birdies early in the round. He hit all 18 greens in regulation and needed only 24 putts.

The 58 was the first sub-59 round in PGA Tour history and surpassed the previous record of 59. Furyk had already shot a 59 at the 2013 BMW Championship, making him the first PGA Tour player to record two rounds below 60. Despite his historic performance, he began the day far down the leaderboard and finished tied for fifth, three shots behind Russell Knox.
