Which goddess's heart must be restored in the 2026 live-action Moana? Te Fiti. The film follows Moana’s voyage to return the heart of Te Fiti, whose life-giving power is vital to her island community.
In the story, the demigod Maui once stole the heart, a greenstone-like relic, hoping to give humanity the power of creation. Te Kā attacked him, and both the heart and Maui’s magical fish hook were lost at sea. The missing heart caused nature to wither and Motunui’s fishing grounds to fail.
Te Fiti is often confused with Te Kā, but they are connected rather than interchangeable. Te Kā is the fiery, destructive form created when Te Fiti loses her heart; restoring the heart reveals Te Fiti’s true identity and heals the damaged natural world. Sina, Tala, and Moana are human characters, not the goddess whose heart drives the quest.
