Moana’s pet rooster in the 2026 live-action film is named Heihei.
Heihei first appeared in Disney’s 2016 animated Moana as a comically confused village rooster who accidentally ends up aboard Moana’s canoe. Although he is not a traditional heroic sidekick, his unpredictable behavior provides much of the story’s physical comedy.
The name is commonly written “Heihei,” without a space or hyphen. Heihei is easy to confuse with Pua, Moana’s pet pig, or Simea, her younger sister. The Kakamora are entirely different: they are coconut-armored pirates encountered during Moana and Maui’s voyage.
The live-action version retains the central characters and story framework of the animated original, including Moana’s ocean journey, Maui’s involvement and the island community of Motunui. Heihei’s presence connects the 2026 film directly to one of the original film’s most recognizable comic characters.
