Which genre is listed for Peaky Blinders alongside historical drama?

The genre listed for Peaky Blinders alongside historical drama is crime drama.

That label reflects the series’ central story: the Shelby family expands a Birmingham criminal organisation through bookmaking, protection rackets, smuggling and political influence. The show is also classified as historical drama because its story begins in the aftermath of the First World War and follows real political and social tensions of 1919–1930s Britain.

A common mix-up is treating “period drama” as the show’s official genre. Period drama describes its setting and style, while crime drama identifies the main narrative engine. The series was created by Steven Knight, premiered on BBC Two in 2013, and later moved to BBC One for its fifth and sixth series.
