Paris is the setting of Assassin's Creed Unity.
Released in 2014, Unity takes place during the French Revolution, beginning in 1789 and continuing through the turbulent political changes that followed. The player controls Arno Dorian, an Assassin operating in Paris while investigating a conspiracy connected to the death of his adoptive father.
The game recreates major locations such as Notre-Dame de Paris, the Palais de Justice, and the Tuileries. Versailles also appears, but Paris is the principal city and the center of most missions.
Unity introduced cooperative missions for up to four players and emphasized coordinated movement and stealth. Its launch was affected by technical problems, but later updates addressed many issues. The setting remains one of the series' most recognizable historical city environments.
