Mugler introduced the perfume Angel in 1992.
Angel was created for the fashion house founded by Thierry Mugler and became one of the defining gourmand fragrances of the modern era. Its composition combines sweet edible-style notes with patchouli, creating a strong contrast between sugary richness and earthy depth.
The perfume was created by Olivier Cresp and Yves de Chiris. Its distinctive blue, faceted star bottle also became part of the product’s identity. Angel’s success helped make gourmand perfume a major commercial direction, influencing later fragrances that emphasized chocolate, caramel, praline, vanilla, and other dessert-like impressions.
The brand is now often associated with the name Mugler rather than the designer’s full original branding. That does not change the answer: the fragrance house introduced Angel under the Mugler name. Angel is also separate from Alien, another major Mugler perfume launched later in 2005.
