Which fragrance house introduced Shalimar in 1925?
Answer
Guerlain
Answer
Guerlain
Guerlain introduced Shalimar in 1925.
Shalimar is one of Guerlain’s best-known perfumes and is widely regarded as an early classic of the modern oriental, now often called amber, fragrance style. Its name refers to the Shalimar Gardens associated with the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, whose story also inspired the Taj Mahal tradition.
The perfume was created by Jacques Guerlain. Its composition is built around citrus notes, floral materials, vanilla, and balsamic elements. Guerlain’s use of vanillin helped give Shalimar a rich, sweet character and influenced later amber fragrances.
The launch date is sometimes confused with the date of the perfume’s creation or with later reformulations. Guerlain had already become an established French fragrance house by 1925, having been founded in Paris in 1828 by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain. Shalimar remains part of the house’s core heritage collection.
