Duncan Bannatyne left the UK show Dragon's Den in 2014 after appearing for more than eight years.
Bannatyne joined the programme in its second series and became one of its most prominent early investors. His business interests included health clubs, care homes and hotels, and his television persona was often associated with blunt questions and a focus on the numbers behind a proposal.
The entrepreneur announced his departure in 2014. He was replaced on the regular panel by entrepreneur Nick Jenkins. Bannatyne's exit marked the end of one of the show's longest early tenures, although Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden continued as established members.
Bannatyne is also known for his autobiography and for charitable work, particularly through the Bannatyne Charitable Trust. He should not be confused with Theo Paphitis, another early dragon who also became well known for retail entrepreneurship but left the series earlier.
