Which former Dragons' Den investor founded the School for Startups?

The story behind the answer

Doug Richard, a former Dragons' Den investor, founded the School for Startups.

The School for Startups was established by Richard as an organisation focused on helping entrepreneurs develop practical business skills. Its work included education, mentoring and support for people starting or growing companies, extending Richard's role as an advocate for entrepreneurship beyond television.

Richard was one of the original five Dragons on the UK version of the programme, appearing in its first series in 2005. He left after that series, and Theo Paphitis joined the panel for series two. That panel change is a common source of confusion because both men are associated with the show's early years.

Before Dragons' Den, Richard had built a career as a technology entrepreneur and investor. He is also associated with the US technology company Angelsoft, now known as Gust, which provides tools for managing angel investment networks. His television appearances and startup education work made him a prominent public advocate for new businesses.
