Duncan Bannatyne founded the UK fitness-chain business that bears his surname before appearing on Dragon's Den.
The Bannatyne Group operates health clubs, spas and hotels, and grew from Bannatyne's wider business career. His entrepreneurial background included care homes and leisure enterprises before he became a member of the Dragon's Den panel.
Bannatyne joined the BBC programme as one of its best-known early investors. His public image combined commercial experience with a direct style of evaluating entrepreneurs' figures, ownership requests and plans for expansion.
The company name can cause confusion because Bannatyne has been involved in several sectors. The fitness chain is specifically associated with the Bannatyne Group, while his earlier business activities included residential care. The question asks about the business carrying his surname, not every company he has owned.
