Kelly Hoppen is the British interior designer appointed an MBE in 2009.
Hoppen built an international design career around residential interiors, hotels, aircraft and commercial spaces. Her signature style is often described as combining clean lines with neutral colours and textured materials. She also wrote books and developed products connected with interior design.
She joined BBC's Dragons' Den in 2013 and became the first female Dragon to invest on the programme after its original panel era. Hoppen remained on the show for two series before leaving in 2015. Her television role introduced her design expertise to a business audience.
An MBE is a Member of the Order of the British Empire, an honour awarded for achievement or service. Hoppen's honour was announced in 2009, several years before her Dragons' Den appearance, so the dates should not be reversed.
