The film about a new evil lurking six months after the incidents involving a cursed video is The Ring Two.
Released in 2005, The Ring Two is the second American film in the Ring series. It follows journalist Rachel Keller and her young son Aidan after they leave Seattle for Astoria, Oregon, hoping to escape the supernatural threat connected with Samara Morgan and her videotape.
The opening returns to the series’ central horror device: a viewer watches a cursed recording and expects to die seven days later. The sequel begins six months after the first film and introduces a new case involving Jake Pierce, whose death suggests that Samara’s influence has not ended. Rachel soon realizes that Aidan remains vulnerable.
The title can be confused with Ringu 2, the 1999 Japanese sequel to Ringu. The Ring Two is the American sequel to The Ring, while Ringu 2 belongs to the original Japanese continuity. The film was directed by Hideo Nakata, who also directed the Japanese Ringu 2.
