Quidditch is the fictional sport featuring the Golden Snitch in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
A Quidditch match is played by two teams of seven players flying on broomsticks. Each team has three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker. The Chasers pursue the Quaffle, while Beaters use bats to hit Bludgers away from their teammates.
The Seeker’s main objective is to catch the Golden Snitch, a small, fast, winged ball. Catching it normally ends the match and awards 150 points, although the Snitch’s capture does not automatically determine the overall winner if the scores differ.
The sport was invented by Rowling for the novels and later inspired real-world versions played without flying. The fictional game is distinct from Muggle Quidditch, now commonly called quadball in many organizations.
