Which fictional racer is the main antagonist in Pixar’s Cars 2?

Sir Miles Axlerod is the main antagonist in Pixar’s Cars 2.

Axlerod is introduced as a former oil baron who claims to have converted himself into an electric car. He creates the World Grand Prix to promote Allinol, a supposedly clean alternative fuel. The international racing event brings Lightning McQueen and other competitors into a conspiracy involving espionage and sabotage.

The film later reveals that Axlerod is secretly behind the plot. He uses Allinol and the race broadcasts to trigger violent engine failures, damaging the reputation of competing alternative fuels and benefiting his own plans. His identity is concealed for much of the movie, while Professor Zündapp and the lemons carry out many of the visible operations.

Axlerod is voiced by Eddie Izzard in the English version. He is not the same character as Chick Hicks, the rival from the first film, or Jackson Storm, the newer racer in Cars 3. Those characters occupy different roles in the franchise.
