Which fictional language did J.R.R. Tolkien call the language of the High Elves?

The story behind the answer

J.R.R. Tolkien called Quenya the language of the High Elves.

Quenya is one of Tolkien’s best-developed Elvish languages. He based aspects of its sound and structure on Finnish, while also drawing on his knowledge of Latin, Greek, and other languages. In the legendarium, Quenya was associated especially with the Ñoldor and other Elves of Valinor.

Sindarin is the other major Elvish language encountered in The Lord of the Rings, but it served different historical and cultural communities in Middle-earth. Quenya remained prestigious and ceremonial among many later Elves, while Sindarin was more widely spoken in places such as Beleriand and later realms.

Tolkien created vocabulary, grammar, and historical development for Quenya rather than merely inventing isolated fantasy words. This linguistic depth was central to his approach to world-building.
