Rachel Elnaugh was the first woman to join the original investment panel of Britain's Dragon's Den.
Elnaugh appeared as one of the original dragons when the British programme launched in 2005. She was known for her business experience and became part of the initial investor group that established the show’s panel format.
Her presence predates later female dragons such as Deborah Meaden, Kelly Hoppen and Sara Davies. Those investors joined in later periods and each developed a distinctive reputation on the programme, but they were not the first woman on the original British panel.
The wording matters because the question concerns the first female investor in the British series, not the longest-serving woman or the first woman to make a particular deal. Elnaugh’s tenure was relatively early in the programme’s history, making her an important part of its original cast.
