Balmain partnered with H&M on its 2015 designer collaboration.
The collection was created under Olivier Rousteing, Balmain’s creative director, and launched in November 2015. It featured the ornate decoration, strong shoulders, military references and highly embellished style associated with Rousteing’s period at the Parisian fashion house.
The collaboration received substantial attention before release, partly because celebrities and models wore pieces during a highly visible promotional campaign. As with many H&M designer launches, selected stores and the online shop offered the collection, and demand was strong.
Balmain is a French luxury fashion house founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain. H&M’s partnership was with the house itself, not simply an independent capsule by Rousteing, which is why Balmain is the canonical answer.
