Dior launched Sauvage in 2015.
Sauvage was developed by Dior perfumer François Demachy and introduced as a men’s fragrance. The name refers to the French word for “wild” or “untamed,” giving the launch a rugged, outdoors-oriented identity.
The original Eau de Toilette is associated with fresh citrus and ambroxan, a modern woody-amber material often used to provide radiance and lasting power. Dior later expanded the line with versions including Eau de Parfum, Parfum, and Elixir.
Johnny Depp became the face of Sauvage in a major advertising campaign. The fragrance is sometimes confused with Eau Sauvage, another Dior perfume launched in 1966. The two products share a name but are separate compositions with different histories and positioning.
