Answer
Cargill-MacMillan family
Answer
Cargill-MacMillan family
The Cargill-MacMillan family owns the privately held food-and-agriculture giant Cargill, founded in 1865.
W. W. Cargill began the business with a grain-storage warehouse in Conover, Iowa. Cargill later grew into a multinational company involved in agriculture, food ingredients, trading, risk management and industrial products. The MacMillan connection began through John MacMillan, who married into the Cargill family and became an important company leader.
Cargill is one of the largest privately held companies in the United States. Ownership is divided among descendants of the Cargill and MacMillan families, rather than public shareholders. Its activities cover much more than farming: the company trades commodities and supplies ingredients used by food manufacturers around the world.
