Benetton Group is linked to the Benetton family, whose siblings Luciano, Giuliana, Gilberto, and Carlo founded the Italian clothing business in 1965.
The family’s first products included brightly colored knitwear made in Treviso, northeastern Italy. Luciano handled sales, Giuliana designed garments, and Gilberto and Carlo worked on administration and production. Their coordinated roles helped the company grow from a small family enterprise into an international fashion retailer.
Benetton became especially known for colorful knitwear and for advertising campaigns created under photographer Oliviero Toscani. Some of those campaigns focused on social and political issues rather than conventional product imagery, making the brand internationally recognizable.
The answer is the family and company name “Benetton.” It should not be confused with the unrelated Italian fashion company Benetti, or with the English surname Bennett. The company later diversified through the family’s wider Edizione holding interests.
