Which faction controls the city of Orgrimmar?

The story behind the answer

The faction that controls the city of Orgrimmar is the Horde. Orgrimmar is the Horde’s principal capital on the continent of Kalimdor, located in the harsh region of Durotar.

The city was founded after the orcs crossed from the Eastern Kingdoms to Kalimdor during Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. It was named after Orgrim Doomhammer, a legendary orc warrior and former Warchief of the Horde. The surrounding territory, Durotar, honors Thrall’s father, Durotan.

Orgrimmar began primarily as an orcish stronghold but became a major political center for the wider Horde. Tauren, trolls, undead, blood elves, goblins, and other Horde-affiliated peoples have all used it as a base at different points in the story. Its distinctive red-rock architecture and fortified gates reflect its origins as a military city.

A common mix-up is confusing Orgrimmar with Stormwind, which is the major capital of the Alliance. The Horde’s other important cities include Thunder Bluff, Silvermoon City, and the Undercity.
