Which expansion introduced the World Quests feature?

The story behind the answer

Which expansion introduced the World Quests feature? The answer is Legion. World Quests debuted in World of Warcraft: Legion as a new way to provide rotating outdoor objectives across the Broken Isles.

The system became available to level-110 characters after they built enough reputation with the major factions of the Broken Isles. Once unlocked, World Quests appeared on zone maps with visible objectives, time limits, and rewards. Players could choose from activities such as defeating rare enemies, fighting world bosses, completing dungeon tasks, crafting profession items, pet battles, and player-versus-player challenges.

World Quests changed the rhythm of max-level questing. Instead of completing a fixed set of daily quests from a few quest-givers, players could scan the map and select activities that matched their goals. Rewards included gold, gear, profession materials, reputation, and Artifact Power. The feature also introduced Emissary quests, which bundled faction-related objectives into larger daily rewards.

World Quests are often confused with daily quests because both refresh over time. They are related, but World Quests are a broader map-based system with rotating objectives and varied content. Later expansions continued to reuse and adapt the feature.
