Which exchange is Mexico’s principal stock market, established in 1894?
Answer
Mexican Stock Exchange
Answer
Mexican Stock Exchange
The Mexican Stock Exchange is Mexico’s principal stock market and was established in 1894.
The exchange is commonly known in Spanish as Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, or BMV. It is located in Mexico City and provides a regulated marketplace for equities, debt securities, investment funds, and other financial instruments.
The modern exchange was formed through the consolidation of earlier Mexican trading venues. Its history reflects the growth of Mexico’s financial system from nineteenth-century securities dealing to an electronic market serving domestic and international investors.
The BMV is sometimes confused with the Mexican Derivatives Market, known as MexDer. They are related parts of Mexico’s financial-market structure but are not the same institution: the BMV is primarily associated with securities listings and trading, while MexDer focuses on derivatives.
