The Franciscan Church of the Annunciation is in Ljubljana and is famous for its distinctive pink Baroque façade.
The church stands beside Prešeren Square, one of Ljubljana’s most recognizable public spaces. Its colorful façade faces the Ljubljanica River and the Triple Bridge, creating one of the capital’s best-known urban views. The church belongs to the Franciscan order and is dedicated to the Annunciation.
Construction of the present church began in the 17th century, and its appearance reflects Baroque architectural traditions. The interior includes a large altar associated with Francesco Robba, an important Baroque sculptor active in Ljubljana.
The church is sometimes identified simply by its color, but the pink exterior is not the official name. It is also distinct from Ljubljana Cathedral, another major historic church elsewhere in the city centre.
