Which European capital hosts the Nobel Prize banquet each year at its City Hall?

The story behind the answer

Stockholm is the European capital that hosts the Nobel Prize banquet each year at its City Hall.

The Nobel Prize banquet is held in the Blue Hall of Stockholm City Hall on 10 December, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death. The ceremony and banquet honor laureates in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and economic sciences.

Stockholm City Hall was designed by Ragnar Östberg and inaugurated in 1923. Although the Blue Hall looks like an open-air courtyard, it is an interior ceremonial hall. Its name refers to an earlier plan to decorate it in blue, a scheme that was abandoned when the brickwork was admired.

The Nobel Peace Prize is the exception: its award ceremony and banquet take place in Oslo, Norway. This division follows Nobel's will, which assigned the peace prize to a Norwegian committee while the other prizes are administered in Sweden.
