The 2017 EP containing David Bowie’s final studio recordings was No Plan.
Released on January 8, 2017—what would have been Bowie’s 70th birthday—the EP collected four songs from the Blackstar recording sessions: “Lazarus,” “No Plan,” “Killing a Little Time” and “When I Met You.” Bowie died two days after Blackstar was released in January 2016, making the EP a posthumous release.
The songs were connected to Lazarus, Bowie’s stage musical and theatrical sequel to The Man Who Fell to the Earth. “Lazarus” appeared on Blackstar, while the other three recordings were issued together on No Plan. The EP therefore contains his final released studio work, even though Blackstar remains his final studio album.
Reality is an earlier 2003 studio album. The Next Day Extra is a 2013 companion release, while “Sue” is a Bowie song associated with the 2014 compilation Nothing Has Changed—not the title of this final-recordings EP.
