Rachel Elnaugh was one of the original female Dragons on the first series of the British programme Dragons' Den.
Elnaugh joined the launch panel in 2005. Before appearing on television, she had built a business career connected with the Red Letter Days experience-gift company. Her presence made her one of the first women to occupy a Dragon seat in the British version.
Deborah Meaden is another highly recognisable female Dragon, but she joined after the first series. Sara Davies and Kelly Hoppen also became Dragons later, so they were not members of the original launch panel.
The word “original” refers specifically to the first British panel rather than to the first woman ever to appear in any international version of the format. The British launch group also included Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Doug Richard and Simon Woodroffe.
