Evan Davis presented the BBC business-investment show Dragon’s Den from its launch until 2023.
Davis became the programme’s original presenter when the British version began in 2005. His role was to introduce each entrepreneur, explain the business proposition, and guide viewers through the negotiations with the investors, known as the Dragons.
He remained associated with the programme for almost two decades, making him one of its most recognisable voices. Davis is also known for presenting BBC Radio 4’s Today programme and Newsnight, and for his work as an economics journalist.
A common mix-up is confusing the presenter with the investors. Davis did not sit on the panel or invest in pitches; his job was to host and explain the deals. The panel has changed repeatedly, while Davis provided continuity across many series.
