Rob Law pitched the travel case Trunki on the UK programme Dragon's Den.
Law developed Trunki as a ride-on suitcase designed for children travelling with their families. The product was intended to make airport and holiday journeys more manageable by allowing a child to sit on and ride the case. Law presented the idea to the Dragons during the programme's early years.
The pitch is especially remembered because the televised appearance did not produce an accepted investment deal, yet Trunki went on to become a successful commercial product. That outcome is a useful reminder that a “no deal” on television does not automatically determine a business's later performance.
Trunki is also sometimes confused with ordinary children's luggage. Its distinctive feature is the ride-on design, not merely its size or colour. Law's story is frequently cited in discussions about product design, intellectual property and the difference between television exposure and formal investment.
