Which entrepreneur joined the British Dragons' Den panel in 2015, becoming the programme's first Muslim Dragon?

The story behind the answer

Touker Suleyman joined the British Dragons' Den panel in 2015 and became the programme's first Muslim Dragon.

Suleyman is a British-Turkish Cypriot entrepreneur whose business career includes investments in fashion and retail. He became well known for rescuing and developing established clothing brands, including the fashion label Hawes & Curtis and the footwear brand Gola.

He joined the BBC programme during its thirteenth series, taking a seat alongside established investors such as Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden and Nick Jenkins. His investment interests have often reflected his background in manufacturing, retail, branding and consumer products.

The term “Dragon” describes an investor on the British version of the format. Although Suleyman was the first Muslim investor to sit on the UK panel, he was not the first Dragon from an ethnic-minority background; that distinction is generally associated with James Caan, who joined earlier.
