Which entrepreneur joined Dragon's Den as a dragon in 2006, replacing Rachel Elnaugh?

The story behind the answer

Deborah Meaden joined Dragon's Den as a dragon in 2006, replacing Rachel Elnaugh.

Meaden is an English businesswoman and investor who became part of the British programme's investor panel in its third series. Her arrival followed the departure of Rachel Elnaugh, one of the original dragons from the 2005 launch line-up.

Before appearing on television, Meaden had built a career in business, including work connected with leisure and holiday companies. On Dragon's Den, she became known for direct questioning about costs, margins, customers and the level of equity requested. Her investment decisions helped make her one of the show's most recognisable recurring dragons.

The date can be confused with the programme's launch year. Dragon's Den began in 2005, but Meaden joined in 2006. She also should not be confused with later female dragons such as Kelly Hoppen, Sara Davies or Jenny Campbell, who entered the panel in different periods.
