Peter Jones is the longest-serving original dragon on the British programme Dragon's Den.
Jones has been part of the investor panel since the programme began in 2005. His business interests have included technology, media, retail and leisure, giving him a broad profile suited to evaluating the varied products and companies presented on the show.
The original panel included Jones alongside Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Doug Richard. Several of those investors later left and were replaced, while Jones remained a continuous presence through successive changes in the cast.
“Original dragon” refers to membership of the launch panel, not simply an investor who appeared early in the programme's history. Peter Jones is therefore distinct from later dragons such as Deborah Meaden and James Caan, who became prominent members after the series was established.
