Rachel Elnaugh founded the experience-gift company Red Letter Days.

The business sold vouchers for memorable activities rather than conventional physical presents. Customers could buy experiences including driving events, flights, meals and leisure activities, creating a distinctive category in the British gift market.

Elnaugh's success with Red Letter Days led to her selection as one of the original investors on Dragon's Den. The company later encountered serious financial difficulties and entered administration in 2005. Dragons' Den viewers sometimes remember the television role without knowing that the founder's business story included both rapid growth and a collapse.

Deborah Meaden subsequently became involved in the rescue and revival of the Red Letter Days brand. That later association can cause confusion, but the original founder was Elnaugh.
