Which English commander was captured at the Battle of Patay after Joan of Arc’s victory?

The story behind the answer

John Talbot was captured at the Battle of Patay after Joan of Arc’s French victory.

The battle took place on 18 June 1429, shortly after the lifting of the siege of Orléans. French forces under commanders including Étienne de Vignolles and Jean Poton de Xaintrailles surprised the English army before it could establish a defensive position.

Talbot, a leading English commander, was taken prisoner along with several other prominent figures. The defeat badly damaged English military prestige in the Loire region and opened the route toward Reims for Charles VII’s coronation.

John Fastolf is sometimes confused with Talbot because Fastolf was also associated with the campaign and escaped Patay. The battle was a French victory, but Talbot—not Fastolf—was the notable commander captured.
