Which Elton John song from the film Rocketman won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2020?

The Elton John song from Rocketman that won the 2020 Academy Award for Best Original Song was “(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again.” The song plays over the end credits of the 2019 biographical film about John's life.

Elton John composed the music and Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics. John performs the recording with Taron Egerton, who portrays him in Rocketman and supplies the character's singing voice for most of the film. Their duet gives the track a deliberately celebratory feel, reflecting the film's themes of survival, reconciliation, and renewed self-belief.

The song won at the 92nd Academy Awards, held on 9 February 2020. It also received the Golden Globe for Best Original Song and several other awards. A frequent mix-up is “Your Song,” which is strongly associated with Elton John and appears prominently in Rocketman, but it was not written for that film and was not the Oscar winner. “Rocket Man” is similarly central to John's catalogue but is an earlier song.
