Tesla uses TSLA as its stock ticker and was founded in 2003.
Tesla was incorporated in July 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Elon Musk joined as an early investor and became chairman, while later leadership made him the company’s best-known executive. Tesla’s shares trade on the Nasdaq under the symbol TSLA.
The company’s market capitalization expanded sharply as investors anticipated large growth in electric vehicles, battery storage, charging infrastructure, and related software. Its valuation has often moved substantially because market capitalization reflects expectations about future earnings as well as current financial results.
Tesla’s first production vehicle was the Roadster, introduced in the late 2000s. The Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y later broadened its lineup. Tesla is sometimes described simply as a car company, but its operations also include energy-generation and storage products, charging services, and software features.
