Which earlier game does Madden NFL 27 follow in the Madden NFL series?

Madden NFL 27 follows Madden NFL 26 in the Madden NFL series.

The two games are consecutive annual entries in EA Sports’ American football franchise. Madden NFL 26 came immediately before Madden NFL 27, while earlier titles such as Madden NFL 25, Madden NFL 24, and Madden NFL 23 belong to preceding release cycles.

The numbering can be confusing because the series has used anniversary names, year-based titles, and numbers that do not always match a calendar year. Madden NFL 27 is identified as the 37th installment of the Madden NFL series, despite the franchise’s much longer publishing history.

Madden NFL 27 retains the series foundation of NFL simulation while adding new systems and presentation features. Its release therefore represents the next mainline entry after Madden NFL 26, not a separate spin-off or expansion.
