Which droid in The Mandalorian is voiced by Richard Ayoade? Q9-0 is voiced by Richard Ayoade in The Mandalorian.
Q9-0, also called Zero, is a pilot, navigator, and hacker recruited by Ranzar Malk for a prison-break mission. He appears in “Chapter 6: The Prisoner,” joining the Mandalorian and other mercenaries in an attempt to free Qin from a New Republic prison transport. Unlike many comic Star Wars droids, Q9-0 is presented as calculating and dangerous.
During the mission, Q9-0 intercepts information about the bounty on Grogu. He searches the Razor Crest and attempts to kill the Child, but Din Djarin shoots and destroys him before he can carry out the attack. His remains later appear in “Chapter 10: The Passenger,” when the Frog Lady uses his vocabulator to communicate more clearly with Din.
A frequent mix-up is with IG-11, another important droid in the series. IG-11 is voiced by Taika Waititi and first appears in the opening episode. K-2SO belongs to Rogue One and is voiced by Alan Tudyk, while R5-D4 is the red astromech associated with A New Hope. Q9-0 is Ayoade’s brief but distinctive Star Wars role.
