Which driver won the 2024 WRC drivers' championship?

Thierry Neuville won the 2024 World Rally Championship drivers' championship. The Belgian Hyundai driver secured his first WRC drivers' title at Rally Japan, the season's final event, alongside co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe. Their championship was confirmed after rival Ott Tänak crashed while leading on the final day.

Neuville had led the standings for much of the season, beginning with victory at Rally Monte Carlo. The 2024 championship used a revised scoring system that awarded separate points for Saturday and Sunday performance, making consistency and end-of-rally pace especially important. Neuville finished the season ahead of Elfyn Evans, while Tänak placed third.

A common mix-up is Kalle Rovanperä, the reigning champion entering 2024. However, Toyota limited Rovanperä's programme to selected rallies, so he did not contest the full title campaign. Sébastien Ogier was also competing part-time, while Neuville became the first Belgian WRC drivers' champion.
