Jeff Gordon won NASCAR Cup Series championships in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001.
Gordon’s first title came in 1995, driving the No. 24 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. He followed it with back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998, then returned to the top in 2001. The series was called the Winston Cup during these seasons; it is now known as the NASCAR Cup Series.
The run established Gordon as one of NASCAR’s defining modern-era stars. He won 93 Cup races, including three Daytona 500s, and spent his full-time Cup career with Hendrick Motorsports. His 1998 season was especially dominant: he won 13 races, a modern-era record at the time, and built a 364-point championship margin over Mark Martin.
A common mix-up is confusing Gordon’s four titles with the seven won by Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, and Jimmie Johnson. Gordon’s championships came in four distinct seasons: 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001.
