Evan Davis took over from Adrian Chiles as presenter of the UK series Dragon's Den.
Davis became the programme's presenter after Chiles, who hosted the first series. His role was to introduce the entrepreneurs and help explain the structure of each pitch, while the Dragons themselves questioned applicants and negotiated possible investments. Davis was not one of the investor Dragons simply because he hosted the programme.
Before and alongside Dragon's Den, Davis was known as a BBC journalist, economics presenter and radio broadcaster. His background made him especially suited to a format built around companies, valuations, sales and ownership percentages. He later became closely associated with the programme in the public mind because of the length of his presenting tenure.
A common mix-up is to identify Davis as one of the original investors. The presenters and Dragons are different categories of participants: Davis guided the television proceedings, whereas the investors supplied—or declined to supply—their own money.
