Which Dragons' Den investor made the deal with Levi Roots alongside Peter Jones?
Answer
Richard Farleigh
Answer
Richard Farleigh
Richard Farleigh made the Reggae Reggae Sauce deal with Levi Roots alongside Peter Jones.
Levi Roots appeared on Dragons' Den in 2007 seeking £50,000 for 40% of his sauce business. Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh jointly accepted the proposal, creating a partnership rather than a solo investment by one Dragon. The pitch is remembered because the product had a strong brand identity and subsequently achieved much wider distribution.
Farleigh is an Australian-born British investor and former hedge-fund manager. His Dragons' Den tenure covered the period in which the Reggae Reggae Sauce pitch was broadcast. Peter Jones, another original investor, remained associated with the programme for many series.
The deal is sometimes attributed to Peter Jones alone because he became the more continuously visible Dragon in later seasons. The documented partnership, however, involved both Jones and Farleigh.
