Duncan Bannatyne left the British programme Dragon's Den in 2014 after appearing from its first series.
Bannatyne is a Scottish entrepreneur, philanthropist and author who built businesses in health clubs, care homes and hotels. His straightforward style and frequent focus on the numbers made him one of the original Dragons when the BBC show launched in 2005.
He remained on the programme for many years before departing in 2014. His exit was part of the show's continuing changes in investor line-up; the Den has regularly replaced Dragons as their business commitments or broadcasting plans changed.
Bannatyne is sometimes confused with Theo Paphitis, another early investor who left in 2013. Peter Jones, by contrast, stayed on the panel continuously from the first series. These differing departure dates are why the year and the “first series” detail matter.
