Kelly Hoppen joined the UK Dragons' Den panel in series 11 after building a career as a fashion designer.
Hoppen is an English designer whose work is associated with interiors, furniture and a restrained style often described through neutral colours and clean lines. Her design and business background brought a perspective different from the investors whose careers were mainly in finance, retail or technology.
She joined Dragons' Den well after the programme's 2005 launch and after Deborah Meaden had already become an established member of the panel. Hoppen's tenure was comparatively brief compared with some of the show's longest-serving dragons, which can make her series number easy to misremember.
The programme regularly changes its panel, so a dragon's joining series is a useful way to distinguish investors with similar television profiles. Sara Davies, for example, joined several series later.
