Which Dragon's Den investor joined the programme in 2006, replacing Rachel Elnaugh?
Answer
Deborah Meaden
Answer
Deborah Meaden
Deborah Meaden joined Dragon's Den in 2006, replacing original Dragon Rachel Elnaugh.
Meaden is an English businesswoman and television personality who became one of the programme's best-known investors. Before appearing on television, she built experience in the leisure and retail industries and became associated with the family-owned Weststar Holidays business.
Her first appearance followed the departure of Rachel Elnaugh, who had been part of the original British panel. Meaden's direct questioning and focus on commercial figures quickly became characteristic of her role. She has invested in a range of businesses presented on the programme, although appearing to make an offer does not always mean that a deal ultimately completes.
Meaden is sometimes confused with later female Dragons such as Kelly Hoppen, Hilary Devey and Sara Davies. Those investors joined in different periods, whereas Meaden entered the panel in 2006 and became a long-running member of the cast.
