Which Dragon’s Den investor joined the panel in 2006?
Answer
Deborah Meaden
Answer
Deborah Meaden
Deborah Meaden joined the Dragon’s Den investor panel in 2006. She became one of the programme’s longest-serving and most recognisable Dragons, known for direct questioning and a focus on the commercial fundamentals of a proposal.
Meaden had already built a business career before joining television. Her background included family business and leisure-sector operations, giving her experience in sales, hospitality, management and expansion. On the programme, she evaluated entrepreneurs’ products alongside their margins, market size, valuation and ability to execute.
Her arrival followed changes to the original investor line-up and helped establish the panel configuration familiar to many viewers. The show has repeatedly refreshed its cast, so dates and replacements are often mixed up when discussing individual Dragons.
Meaden has also invested privately outside the programme and has written and broadcast about entrepreneurship. Her name is distinct from later female Dragons such as Kelly Hoppen and Hilary Devey, who joined in different periods.
