Which Dragon's Den investor joined the British programme in 2006 and became known for the Westcountry leisure business family?

The story behind the answer

Deborah Meaden joined the British Dragon's Den panel in 2006.

Meaden is an English businesswoman and television personality. Before becoming a dragon, she built experience in leisure and hospitality, including involvement with the Weststar Holidays business. Her background helped establish her on-screen identity as an investor with knowledge of consumer businesses, tourism and retail.

She joined after the programme's 2005 launch, so she was not one of the original five dragons. Her arrival is often confused with the careers of other prominent investors, especially because the panel changed frequently during the early series. Meaden subsequently became one of the programme's longest-serving and most recognisable dragons.

A television appearance is not the same as a completed investment. As on the show, an offer can depend on later due diligence and negotiation, so a pitch shown on screen does not automatically prove that a deal reached completion.
